BE INFORMED about this horrific global injustice; awareness is key.

“Human trafficking can only work if the victims remain invisible to the public eye, we have to remove the veil of ignorance.”

NotForSaleBookNot for Sale, David Batstone
Not for Sale is an introduction to today’s world-wide slave trade. Stories are told of modern day abolitionists who, individually or in cooperation with agencies, use their influence and abilities to help free these captives. The authors come from both secular and faith-based venues and are inspired by a dedication to love and justice. Batstone urges his readers to become personally responsible by participating in the preservation of human freedom.

onthesideofangelsOn the Side of the Angels, Dr. Joseph D’Souza and Benedict Rogers
On the Side of the Angels lends a Biblical perspective to pressing human rights issues and the responsibility of Christians to affirm human dignity, human equality and human responsibility. The book’s underlying theme is that Christ calls His followers to an integrated mission of proclaiming the Good News and addressing issues of social injustice. Only by striking this balance will they be truly obeying Christ’s teachings.

SlaveryNowandThenSlavery Now and Then, Danny Smith
In Slavery Now and Then the editor, Danny Smith, has gathered articles on human trafficking from some of today’s leading human rights authorities. These range from the history of the transatlantic slave trade to the continuation today of modern slavery. Beginning with the thesis that “justice is at the very heart of the message of Jesus,” the book concludes by listing sources that will help the reader take action.

BeyondTheSoiledCurtainBeyondTheSoiledCurtain, David and Beth Grant
Beyond the Soiled Curtain is an account of the fight against the victimization of millions of girls who have been forced into the sex-slave industry. The true stories are interwoven with information that makes one realize the desperate conditions of these girls. Project Rescue, the name of this far-reaching ministry, has become the model of not only rescuing but restoring these girls. David and Beth Grant are the founders of this organization and the authors of this challenging and instructive reading gleamed from 10 years of ministry throughout India and Southern Asia.
This book is certainly one of hope. The three-pronged approach to ministry provides strategies for intervention, restoration and prevention. Many of the stories tell of restored and transformed lives and the people God used to be “His compassionate hands and heart.”

Priceless Priceless , Tom Davis
Tom Davis takes on the reality of child sex trafficking in his new novel, Priceless. Tom transports readers from the forests of Kostroma to the night clubs of Moscow, where young girls are marketed for sex. Readers are taken out of their comfort zone, but never beyond the light of hope.
Tom Davis is the president and CEO of Children’s HopeChest, a global orphan advocacy group. He has authored four books, including the first in this series, Scared: A Novel on the Edge of the World. Tom and his wife, Emily, have seven children and live in Colorado.

RentingLacy Renting Lacy; A Story of America’s Prostituted Children , Linda Smith with Cindy Coloma
In her book, Renting Lacy, Linda Smith exposes sex trafficking of minors in the United States. She tells the difficult story of dysfunctional homes where children are abused emotionally and sexually, traffickers who often appear as boyfriends and rescuers, little girls (as young as 11) who are victimized, and buyers whose demands cause the sexual market to flourish. To give hope, Smith includes the testimonies of rescued girls and then urges the reader toward action in this fight against abuse and injustice.

GoodNewsAboutInjustice Good News AboutI njustice , Gary A. Haugen
A year 2000 Finalist in the ECPA book competition!
Accounts of injustice from our own communities and from around the world often leave us feeling outraged and helpless. We wonder what we can possibly do in response. And we wonder where is the God of justice? Jesus, however, said, “Take heart! I have overcome the world.” Gary Haugen sees the truth of Jesus’ claim vindicated throughout Scripture, which portrays a God who rises up against injustice. He also sees this truth in the lives of sometimes little-known Christians who through the years have courageously confronted evil when they saw it. Here he tells stories of these witnesses of hope in a hurting world.
The good news about injustice is that God is against it. God is in the business of using the unlikely to perform the holy, Haugen contends. And in this book he not only offers stories of courageous witnesses past and present, he also calls the body of Christ to action. He offers concrete guidance on the ways and means its members can rise up to seek justice throughout the world.
